20160916-img_033720160916-img_027820160916-img_033120160916-img_0296We take more than a million selfies a day, uploading them to social media 17 million times a week. It’s a fun way to let your friends know how you’re feeling, stay in touch with followers – or show off your fabulous new lipstick. It’s only human to want to look your best in a photo, so here are my top tips for a spectacular selfie.

The key to selfie makeup that lasts all day is primer. Smashbox have an amazing variety that tackle a range of skin concerns, from dullness to blemish control. I love the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Pore Minimizing Primer, patting a pea-sized amount onto my cheeks and forehead before applying Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation sparingly over my chin, cheeks and forehead. It’s lightweight and feels comfortable all day, plus it comes in a range of true-to-tone colours.

Once the skin is primed and nourished the trick is to highlight your best features. I get to work with the great new Bobbi Brown Retouching Face Pencil in a shade or two lighter than my skin tone to add dimension my face and hide any under-eye darkness – so effective that once you correct, you’ll never go back. Lastly I use Estée Lauder’s Perfecting Loose Powder to set my work in Light Medium for under eyes and Medium for the areas I’ve contoured to add dimension and give a subtle glow to the high points of your face. For thick sexy brows I adore Tom Ford’s Brow Sculptor to create an immaculate arch, framing your most expressive feature – your eyes.

Humans are drawn to the eyes above all else, and this effect is exaggerated in selfies. So my final touches are Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink to exaggerate my eyes in a chic way and Smashbox’s X-Rated Mascara for super-dark, fluttery lashes that don’t clump up. Then it’s Smashbox O-Plump Intuitive Lip Plumper for the perfect pout. I like to finish with a final swoosh of Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Blush to add radiance and colour and, with that, I’m always selfie-ready!

Hi. What product do you use in your hair?? I follow on IG and Snapchat. Your hair is constantly changing style and looks so good. I also have short hair and can never get past the ugly middle stage because I can’t style it. Any tips? Thanks. J x

Hello lovely! I’ve been battling with it every time it gets to that awkward, growing-out-kind-of-but-not-really stage! I just try to tidy the fringe and make sure the back is always well kept, that way it kinda makes the rest of it look pulled together even if it isn’t! I’m obsessed with Kerastase and Bumble&Bumble products – they both have such good ranges that cover every hair type and texture! Good luck on your short hair journey! Xx

Sorry. What products do you use from bumble and bumble. Looking at the surf spray but what is it you use for the texture?
